Don't let them cheat you out of your "Fresh Start".
After you discharge a debt in chapter 7 bankruptcy, not only do you not owe the debt, but it is illegal for a creditor to continue to pursue the debt or to sell it to a debt collector. Reporting the debt on your credit report is a violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and contacting you in pursuit of the debt is a violation of California’s Rosenthal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
